Eco-Friendly Performance
Traditional lifting straps are often made from cowhide leather, raising significant ethical concerns related to animal welfare and environmental damage. Alternative materials like polyester or nylon also pose environmental issues due to their synthetic nature.
Cork leather, is a zero-waste material that requires no animal cruelty. All our cork material is FSC certified, confirming that the forest is managed responsibly, preserving biological diversity, and benefiting local communities and workers.
Cow leather generates 110.0 kg of CO2/m², whereas vegan leather emits 7-15.8 kg CO2/m², making animal leather 7x more environmentally demanding. Each cork lifting strap sold saves 3.3kg of CO2 and in addition to this, cork oak trees absorb significant amounts of carbon dioxide.
Harvesting cork promotes the growth of new bark, increasing the tree’s ability to store carbon and combat climate change. With each harvest, cork oak trees absorb more CO2 to facilitate bark regeneration, resulting in three to five times more carbon storage compared to unharvested trees.
Cork is a biodegradable material, meaning it can decompose naturally without causing harm to the environment. At the end of its lifecycle, cork products can be composted or disposed of without leaving behind harmful residues.
The promotion of cork oak forests is essential for preserving biodiversity by providing habitats for numerous plant and animal species. These ecosystems sustain a diverse array of wildlife, including endangered species such as the Iberian Lynx and the Barbary Macaque.
By safeguarding cork oak forests, we can protect these vulnerable species and maintain the delicate balance of our ecosystems.
